It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Bernice Clara Marks announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, June 26th, 2024, with her family by her side at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre. Born in Loch Lomond, Bernice was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary “Mamie” Luedee.
She leaves to mourn, with loving memories, her sisters and brothers; Cecilia Ryan, Bernard (Adeline) Luedee, Anne Marie (Alex) Carter, Gordon (Betty) Luedee; sisters and brother-in-law, Peggy Luedee, Eleanor Luedee and Gerald Ryan; plus, a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, especially her longtime friend Anne Martin.
Bernice was predeceased by her husbands Gordon Ryan and Llewelyn Marks; sisters, Adele (Bernard) Wall, Lucine (Alfred) Anderson and Margaret Rose Ryan; brothers, Leo Luedee, Cyril Luedee, James Luedee; and brother-in-law Gerard Ryan.
Bernice shared a love for gardening with her late husband Llew and spent countless hours tending to their flowers and plants. When not outside, she could often be found in the kitchen making a batch of her fudge, which was loved by everyone. She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends and would never turn down a game of cards. Bernice also spent many years devoting her time to the cemetery committee at St. Ann’s Parish and her endless dedication will never be forgotten. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
In keeping with Bernice’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving family and friends at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Upper Ferry on Friday, July 12th, from 7:00-9:00 P.M. The funeral service will be held on July 13th at 11:00 A.M with Father Prakash officiating. Interment to follow at Mount St. Thomas Cemetery. Donations in memory of Bernice can be made to the cemetery fund for St. Ann’s Parish. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques.
