Bernice was a gracious and lovely lady, and we'll miss her presence in the community. She was always so pleasant and friendly. You could be sure to have a good conversation with her, and she knew how to give a nice compliment. I always liked meeting up with her and Lew on the beach as we'd have such great chats.
All my phlox plants came from those that she and Lew gave me years ago. So that's a good memory of them both. Rest in peace Bernice; and condolences to all your family.

Going home will never be the same now without a few long visits with Bernice. We spent many hours with Bernice and Gordon when they worked and lived by us in Gillam, MB. And, we spent many hours visiting with Bernice and Llew at their home in Upper Ferry every year when we were home. Those visits were always filled wit interesting conversations on a variety of topics. Bernice was a special person and will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts are with Bernice's family and good friends especially Cecilia, Ann Marie, Bernard, Gordie and Ann Downey Martin. We know you will keep Bernice's memory alive. Make some fudge, have a good game of cards and remember the fun and laughs you had with Bernice.
How fortunate we all were to have known her.

I do not know how many hours I spent talking with Mrs. Marks by our shared post boxes. She never failed to ask about mom and dad and what was going on in my life. She was a wonderful neighbour and the last time I saw her was when she brought over fresh holly the Christmas before her stroke- this was something Mr. Marks would do every Christmas and she kept the tradition going. I will miss her smile, her kindness and her laugh very much.
