Obituary of Ruth Piercey

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Ruth Piercey announces her passing on Friday, December 18th, 2020 at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques at the age of 92 with her loving family by her side. Born in Margaree, NL, Ruth was the daughter of the late James and Dina (nee Musseau) Hodder. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her son, Albert (Bernice) Osmond of Port aux Basques, NL, son-in-law Ronald (Andy) Hoskins of Margaree, NL, stepchildren, Marie (Eric) Bartlett, St. Johns, NL, Shirley Matthews and Shawn Piercey both of ON, step-son-in-law, Edgbert Walters, grandchildren, Todd (Suzette) Osmond of Eastern Passage, NS, Elaine (Shannon) Sheaves of London, ON, Trudy (Jimmy) Hoskins of St. Andrews, NL, Trevor Hoskins of Margaree, NL, great-grandchildren, Emma Sheaves and Mason Sheaves both of London, ON, Andre Hoskins of St. Andrews, NL, Keilyn Osmond of Eastern Passage, NS, brother-in-law Walter (Gladys) Osmond, sister-in-law Bernice Osmond and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Ruth was predeceased by her first husband, Wilson Osmond, second husband, Garfield Piercey, daughter, Christine Hoskins, step-daughter, Roma Walters, step-son, Merrill Piercey, mother- and father-in-law, Thomas and Violet Osmond, brothers, sisters, and brothers- and sisters-in-law. In keeping with Ruth’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitations. The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 21st at 11 a.m at St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Jane Allen officiating, interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James Anglican Church. A special thank-you is extended to the nurses and staff at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Center, Rev. Jane Allen, and musicians.
