Obituary of William Keeping
Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late William Keeping announces his passing on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Heath Centre, with his loving family by his side, at the age of 68 years. Born at Rose Blanche, William was the son of the late Garfield and Maryann Keeping. He was predeceased by sister, Katherine Howse; brother, Arthur Keeping; brothers in law, Charles Howse and Raymond Gillard, sister in law, Mary Keeping; nephews, Dennis and David Howse, and great nephew, Coady Herritt. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his brothers, Wilson (Abigail) Keeping of Dartmouth, NS; Edwin Keeping of Grand Bank, NL; Lockland (Isabella) Keeping of Isle aux Morts, NL; sisters Shirley (Edward) Cokes, Head Bay D’Espoir, NL and Bessie Gillard of Port aux Basque, NL, as well as sister in law, Peggy Keeping of Rose Blanche, NL. He will be sadly missed by Aunt Rosanna Bunter, as well as a large number of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. William, locally known as Billy or Bill, was a relatively quiet man who loved public as well as private card games, in which he won his fair share of prizes in that activity. His main interest however, was in wood working. He was well known for his crafting of garden ornaments as well as other decorative. When he was not busy at woodwork in his well equipped work shed, he kept himself occupied in various other activities. In keeping with William’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Friday, March 13th, 2020 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at St. Michael’s and All Angels Church in Rose Blanche from where the funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 14th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. officiated by. Rev. Canon Jeffrey Petten, interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery. Flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port-aux-Basques, 695-7010. Words of comfort can be sent to the family by visiting www.oceansidefh.ca
