Larry, Rick and Family.
Thinking of you on the loss of Joan. She was an amazing Lady who loved life, she was so much fun to be around.
She seemed younger by far than her year's and had an impact on everyone who crossed her path.
You will surely miss her, but she is at peace.
Be gentle with yourselves

Joan was so special! We had many good times together here at Tree Lakes! We even traveled in our motorhome to New Foundland to visit her and Jim. One highlight of many was picking out lobsters for dinner…I will surely miss her…
Here is just one of our good times…

It has been many years since I have returned to Codroy. Aunt Joan, Uncle Jim, Grama and all the cousins are such special memories when we travelled to Codroy in the summer. Aunt Joan kept us all in line somehow lol. Aunt Joan was a stylish, smart and kind lady and will be greatly missed! Our trips to Codroy were so special we all felt free as birds so unlike Toronto. Condolences to all the family and know you are in our hearts.

Growing up in Burgeo Joan was great friends with my older sisters. I remember her very well even though I was much younger. We lived next door to the Matthews family. I had a few conversations with her via Facebook this past few years. Hopefully Joan and my sister Thelma will be singing together now. Rest in peace.

Dear Larry and Rick so sorry for the loss of your mom. Last summer when I was home visiting my dad we sat on her patio at the cabin and shared a glass of wine and laughed over so many memories of us growing up there. She was such a special lady that no matter how many years had gone by, she made me feel like I was at home. She had the best laugh.

My sincere condolences to the family. As a former student of your Mom, I credit her for teaching me how to write ( MacLean’s method)! She would say “just let the pencil flow” and whenever someone mentions my penmanship today, I immediately think of her. She was a wonderful lady. Rest in Peace

Joan was my Aunt, I had the pleasure of seeing her quite often when I was younger. I always found her to be kind, thoughtful and wise. I remember laughing at her stories, she was a funny lady that made people smile. We wish we could make the trip over for her funeral and send our love to Larry, Rick, Uncle Bruce, Stuart and their families in person, but unfortunately we can not. We are thinking of you all and sending our love.

The passing of Joan, an embodiment of love, generosity and kindness, leaves a great void. She was more than a friend - my Canadian mom who always welcomed me with open arms. Her thoughtful nature and her friendship were unique gifts that will be deeply missed. The memory of our bond as mother-daughter across borders will be cherished forever in my heart. Goodbye Joan, until we meet again.

Larry and Rick, we were both shocked and saddened to hear of your mothers passing, we have been friends for more than 60 years and cherish every moment we spent with both her and your father, from the vacation holidays when you all were kids and the precious winters we spent with them in Florida are memories that will remain with us for ever. We are so pleased that we chose to go and visit her just one week before her passing, even then we had a lot of laughs.. from the time your father didnt want to take our dog in his car when we had the accident, to the times he sneaked tips off the table and gave them to the kids.. I am so thankful that you have asked me to participate in her funeral. God bless you all and I know you will always remember the good times we all had together...
