Wilfred, Scott and family ,we are so sorry to hear of Bev's passing.
I had the privilege to be in the first NP program in St Johns, and it is here I met Bev,and her 2 friends Mona and Donna.
I knew from the get go that Bev was a leader, organized and very focused..
I was in awe that she knew so much about computers ,and she was so happy to try to help us try to figure it out.
She was always an advocate for us and kept us on track.
Her love for her family was very evident.
Bev always had a way to get things done, and one of the best In this role.
I will always cherish that year in the old Grace residence , It was one of the best years of my life.
May you cherish your memories and may your hearts heal .
Love always Angela and Wallace Pelley and family..

You provided guidance to me when I was a young nurse entering in the NP program as my clinical instructor. You identified my strengths and help me build on them and challenged me when you knew I wasn't working to my potential. You got me my first NP job...hooked me up with Madge in Hay River, a locum in Springdale and then on to a teaching position at the Center for Nursing Studies. We talked often as you worked at the College moving and shaking things up to progress our competencies and broaden our scope of practice. We became friends and I would visit you at your home on Penney Crescent. I remember us talking about the renos you done and how proud you were of Scott and his studies at the MUN Engineering Program. We often talked about how he was similar to my nephew... so focused, mature and driven.
You met me for coffee when Kyrian was sick in hospital and listened to my grief and provided me with comfort.
After you moved to the Valley I didn't see you much but we stayed in touch. You visited me at our cabin when you were biking in the area (photo attached). I was amazed how you guys were navigating all those hills in Salvage. We had another great visit when my Katie was playing soccer in the Doyles... you came out to watch and later we enjoyed a nice glass of red. Despite the time and the distance between us we could pick up conversation when we saw one another like no time had passed. Some would say this is true measure of friendship. I was always inspired by your commitment to nursing. A true professional with a no bullshit approach...one that is needed in our flailing health care system. I admired you so much and feel truly blessed to have met you. You should know I have applied to finish my masters...you told me if I didn't it was all a waste. I'm so sorry I didn't get to say good bye to you, but I will cherish forever our memories. You have left a lasting impression on me. A big hug to WIlfred and Scott. She loved you guys to bits. My heart is broke for you.

I met Bev in 1978 when I entered nursing at WMRH in Corner Brook. I was in my first year and Bev was in her second year of nursing training. She was my big sister. A first year student matched with a second year student. Bev took very good care of me, helped me with any studies I needed help with and kept me in her daily thoughts. We attended each others wedding and made contact over the years. Bev never changed, always with a smile. My heart is shattered but heaven gained a beautiful angel. Rest easy Bev.

Condolences to you, your son and all the family, Wilfred. Bev loved her family dearly and accepted her fate with grace and dignity. May your memories bring you comfort as you grieve the loss of the exemplary person that was Bev. I first met Bev as a student in the first intake to NP Program at the Centre for Nursing Studies in the late 1990s. In the intervening years, our professional lives have intersected many times. In the last two years, Bev has been an instrumental member of the Nurses Association of NL Working Group trying to forge a path to establish a advocacy association to strengthen the voice of all nurses in NL in support of the nursing profession, health care and public access to health care. We will miss her intellect, leadership and commitment. You have lost a dear family member. We have lost a colleague, the nursing profession has lost a committed and consummate professional and some of us, I among them, have lost a dear friend. May the love and support of family and friends comfort you as you mourn and grieve the loss of your partner in life.

I am so very sorry to hear of Bev's passing. Bev was so very kind and patient with me while I was going through the Nurse Practitioner program at the Centre For Nursing Studies in 2005/2006. She understood me, and really took the time to listen and was always there to give me the extra support and knowledge that I needed in order to succeed.
She was instrumental within her role at the (ARNNL) CRNNL in advancing the Nurse Practitioner role and set an example for novice NPs to continue to follow in her footsteps. I am honored to have known Bev in both a professional and personal capacity. My thoughts are with the family at this time, and I want to extend my sincere condolences to you all.

Bev was a friend and colleague for whom I had the utmost respect. I will miss her immensely. She was a courageous, determined and principled person that reflected in her multiple roles in the nursing profession. She embraced visionary and values based thinking and practice in the her roles of leader, educator, practitioner and advocate. In all of those roles, Bev embraced the challenges with optimism and determination. Bev's life, though short, was a life well lived. The contributions she made to health care and the nursing professional, provincially and nationally are an enduring legacy to her commitment to her profession and community. In the days before her passing, I sent her a poem that reflects the depth of my affection and admiration for the exemplary woman, friend and professional that she was. I share it here again...
