Obituary
Obituary of Evelyn Hann
Please share a memory of Evelyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Evelyn Georgina Hann announces her peaceful passing at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre Long Term Care on Monday, October 9, 2023 at the age of 84. Born in Rose Blanche, she was the daughter of the late Pearl and Gordon Skinner.
Evelyn leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her loving daughter, Arthena (Bill) Bailey; her chosen daughter, Vera May Francis; and her grandchildren, Candice and Ryan (Amy) Bailey. She will be sadly missed by her brother, Lewis Skinner; sisters-in-law, Margaret Skinner and Sheila Comeau; niece, Gillian Skinner (Todd); and nephew, Dwayne Skinner; as well as a large circle of extended family friends. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, George; grandson, Orion; brother, Roger Skinner; and brothers- and sister-in-law, Arthur Comeau and Berkley & Shirley Hann.
Evelyn would open her doors to family and friends, and would love it when there was a room full of people laughing, singing, and telling stories. It's no exaggeration to say she spent most of her life in a kitchen, cooking and baking and making sure no one went away from a table hungry. Whether it was guests at Hann's Tourist Home, patrons at the first Mary Brown's to be opened in Port aux Basques, patients and staff coming into the cafeteria at the hospital, or family and friends dropping in at home - if you didn't go away full, it wasn't for her lack of asking, "now you're sure you don't want anything else?"
In keeping with Evelyn’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends may visit Oceanside Funeral Home on Friday, October 13th from 2:00 – 4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 14th at 2:00 p.m. from St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Jane Allen officiating, with interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Flowers graciously accepted, or donations in memory of Evelyn can be made to St. James Anglican Church. Words of comfort can be sent to the family by visiting www.oceansidefh.com
