Obituary of May Francis

It is with great sadness that the family of the late May Francis announce her passing on Friday, September 16, with her loving family by her side at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre in Port Aux Basques at the age of 73 years.Born in Burgeo, May was the daughter of the late Max and Hilda Strickland. May leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her children; Kevin Francis, Karen (Sandy) Spencer and Maxine Francis, grandchildren; Carolyn Payne, Devon (Monica) Spencer, Brady Spencer, Khloe Spencer, and great grandson, Owen Payne. May also leaves behind her brother, Norman (Myrtle) Strickland, sister, Ruby (Chris) Clare, and sisters-in-law, Gladys Strickland and Bertha Chaulk, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, and extended family. May was predeceased by her husband, Chesley, mother and father-in-law, Philip and Netta Francis, brothers, Andrew Strickland and Jim Strickland. In keeping with May’s wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18th from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M, from Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques. A private family service will be held. Flowers graciously accepted or donations in memory of May can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
