Bernice & family.. You have lost a wonderful man and we offer our condolences. There was never a dull moment with Lew.. he was an interesting man who had much to share and offer in a conversation.
My gardens are full of the phlox he gave me a few years ago.. they are my favorite perennial.. When we look at them.. we'll remember Lew. He was a natural with plants, and we all know how much he cultivated and loved his gardens. I met Lew when I first came to Codroy as a young teacher, and I loved going down to Marks store at lunchtime to talk with Lew and his mother.. They made me feel "at home." Lew was one of my favorite people, and I'm only sorry I never got to see him one last time. There are those people who become part of the history of your life.. Lew shares a spot for sure.
May he forever rest in peace. God bless you all as you mourn for him.

Please accept our deepest sympathies for your loss. It was such a pleasure for us both in knowing Mr. Marks. We will always remember his patience in explaining all about the different varieties of plants/flowers in his beautiful garden...his face shone with pride every time we walked around the grounds. He also shared with us the bounty of his gardening efforts. Walt missed his chats with Mr. Marks as his work took him further to the West Coast.
We pray that the love and support of your family and friends will ease your pain during this most difficult time.
Sending hugs your way, Fay and Walt

Bev, So sorry to hear of the passing of your uncle Lew. I remember the day your parents sent us up to help him pick his strawberries. We picked a lot, ate a lot, but had loads of fun. It was so peaceful there in the back garden. May he rest in peace in his heavenly home.
